BREATHE! was a success on many levels.
Four artists presented their work in video, installation, sculpture, and painting in an exhibition and community dialogue that asked the question: How do we recover from the past year, find resilience and breathe again?
The artwork was engaging and compelling and each artist contributed works on a variety of themes, including: memorializing the deaths of those African-Americans who died since George Floyds passing, the struggle to find a home for refugees fleeing from climate disruption and political turmoil, and on finding ways to heal and recover from COVID-19.
Video by Kim Anno Community Dialogue
The community dialogue was riveting, and there was a discussion with the audience and artists focused on what it is like to be in a transition period, how to bridge political and racial divides, and strategies for healing a community. After the gallery closed, people continued the discussion at the DRIP cafe across the street.
